Kenyan Community Initiative Support (KCIS) is a non-profit
organisation based in Kenya. The organisation will be seeking charitable
status in Kenya and the UK and also NGO
status in Kenya.
KCIS helps people improve their standard
of living in a sustainable way.
We believe that it is better to give people a way to
earn an income, or grow sufficient crops, so that they can support themselves
and their families with dignity, rather than constant hand-outs.
We research and develop simple-to-use, low-technology
ways to improve life in rural areas:
- Water Purification (hand-in-hand with personal
hygiene education for children)
- Methane collectors to provide fuel for cooking,
to run a generator or borehole pump, etc.
- Water collection
- Mosquito & larva control to help eradicate
malaria
- Solar cooking
Then we show people how to use
them, make them and maintain them.
We have expertise in mechanical engineering,
electrics, solar energy.
We also support children's organisations:
Our dream, however far-fetched, is that all children in Kenya should
have as good a start in life as possible, to make them useful citizens
in the future.
KCIS believes that:
Everyone has the right to earn a reasonable income.
All children, regardless of race, colour, ethnicity or creed have
the right to good health, an education and a proper home.
